Statement

When I make a drawing in ink on paper, I often feel that there is another layer of meaning beyond that drawing, a more subtle meaning.  When I cut up the drawing, I am left with a new code spread-out on the floor, fragments or letters of a new language.  I must discover the language and the meaning of a new composition.  I then sit quietly and shift the fragments until the language is revealed to me. It’s a process of invention and reinvention.

It’s a totally intuitive construction and I know when it’s done. It can be read in many ways. It’s open to a journey for the eye to make its own connections.
